They’re not my words, but those of World Superbike fans!
After Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya recently became the 50th different race track to stage World Superbike since the championship started in 1988, I took to Facebook and Twitter to ask people which venue they’d like to see return.
Kyalami and Sugo proved popular choices, while the old Hockenheim was destroyed after its final races and so would be impossible to use. Other choices, such as Cadwell Park or the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course, have an obvious attraction but in reality would never happen. However, there was no question that Brands comes out on top.
As things stand, Brands would need to be re-homologated in order to stage WorldSBK again. Whether we’d see the kinds of crowds we witnessed in the Foggy or Hodgson years is another matter, but the thought of World Superbike back at Brands Hatch is clearly something most of you would relish.
